Job Description:
Currently we are looking for a Front End Developer who will carry out a project for our Client - one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world, providing a comprehensive range of financial services to around 60 million customers.
The team are engaged in the definition, development and implementation of Product Control’s strategic analysis and reporting system, off-market rate checking system and Finance’s reconciliation systems, general ledger posting engine and regulatory reporting systems. Members of the team tend to get involved in several projects at once.
Main tasks:
- Analyse & capture functional & non-functional requirements for Finance and/or Product Control’s long-term (strategic) and short-term projects
- Work closely with business analysts, users and system developers to define data sources and detailed business rules for P&L, Accounting and Regulatory Reporting systems
- Understand the system data flows from Front to Back
- Develop proof-of-concept or prototypes to help crystallise business rules, processes and functions
- Seek opportunities to make the Finance’s business processes more effective and efficient across business lines and regions
- Review and manipulate trade and market data to understand the variety of scenarios that need to be catered for and prepare test packs
- Provide input to test plans and testing strategies
- Provide input to design discussions and project planning meetings
- Build good working relationships with other IT departments and relevant business areas
- Liaise with development teams and business users in London, New York, Paris and Hong Kong
- Understand the direction of Product Control’s strategic architecture and seek opportunities to accelerate it
- In some cases, provide cover for project managers and input to project plans, status and risk/issue management
Requirements:
- Around 3 - 5 years of experience with MS Access , MS Excel VBA
- Very good knowledge of T-SQL
- Experience with MS SQL Server or Sybase
- Knowledge of Oracle
- Experience with MS Visual Source Safe
- Disciplined approach to requirements analysis with a software engineering or computer science background (either at degree level or working for a software company)
- Experience in capturing, analysing and documenting functional & non-functional requirements
- Experience working within large/strategic and small/tactical projects
- Experience in prototyping or rapid application development or iterative development
- Very good knowledge of English
- Understanding of Product Control, Finance and/or Regulatory processes and workflow; broad knowledge of financial products and derivatives across interest rate, fx, credit and/or equity businesses will be a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and spoken) – comfortable with detail
- Takes ownership of tasks assigned to ultimate resolution
