Environments Engineer

As an Environments Engineer your main responsibilities for EMEA Wealth projects will be: (1) to own and manage the delivery of the various development and production environments (2) environmental defect resolution on the development environments (3) ongoing maintenance of these environments. There will also be a requirement to manage adhoc projects for the team.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Own and maintain the inventory for all EMEA Wealth environments from SIT through to Production. Liaise with the Enterprise Information Management team to keep this book of record as up to date as possible.
  • Deliver all new hardware that supports projects to all environments
  • Liaise with ITO teams for delivery of middleware and connectivity/interfaces with other applications on various platforms
  • Liaise with 3rd party companies on delivery of feeds to EMEA Wealth projects
  • Liaise with other SWD Deployment teams for delivery of supporting application software and/or configuration amendments
  • Liaise with Wealth Deployment teams for delivery of application software and configuration amendments
  • Manage defect resolution for environmental issues in development
  • Manage evergreening of the EMEA Wealth Estate
  • Act in a consultancy role for programmes that are external but affect EMEA Wealth
  • Own and manage adhoc projects for the team aimed at simplifying and scaling the process
  • on behalf of team aimed at simplifying and building scalability to the role

 

Requirements:

  • A proactive approach, working independently to tight deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Able to work prioritise effectively in a rapidly changing environment
  • An inclusive ‘front to back’ approach, focus of thinking not restricted to own immediate functional area
  • A strong verbal and written communicator who tailors communication to a broad range of audiences and levels within the organisation with confidence
  • Structured and very organised
  • A strong team player and relationship builder, comfortable in working with a global and diverse team/stakeholders across different locations and looking to work in a cross-product environment
  • Able to anticipate potential problems, ‘think on feet’ to resolve and/or escalate appropriately
  • Able to influence others over which you have no direct management authority at different levels in the organisation
  • Competent using MS Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
  • An understanding of the following is an advantage but not essential
  • o Experience in an IT development or operations role
  • o Basic Connect Direct for Windows and zSeries
  • o Basic Connectivity for UNIX
  • o Basic Control-M Scheduling package
  • o Basic RACF Security
  • o Basic knowledge of IBM middleware
  • o Basic knowledge of SAN/NAS environments
