For our Client, an international company from the financial sector, located in Gdynia we are looking for Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability Specialist.
Main purpose of the role is to deliver Health & Safety services and assistance to the local offices in Poland and other locations where required. The role will report directly to the Global Director of Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S).
The Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability specialist will establish and maintain global programs and initiatives to assist our Client in promoting positive change with regards to their sustainability targets. He/She will implement programs to meet local relevant regulatory requirements. EHSS Specialist will provide technical expertise in multiple EHS&S disciplines and serve as an effective member of cross-functional project teams by providing guidance on EHS&S matters in design, risk assessment and incident investigation.

Main purpose of the role is to deliver Health & Safety services and assistance to the local offices in Poland and other locations where required. The role will report directly to the Global Director of Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S).
The Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability specialist will establish and maintain global programs and initiatives to assist our Client in promoting positive change with regards to their sustainability targets. He/She will implement programs to meet local relevant regulatory requirements. EHSS Specialist will provide technical expertise in multiple EHS&S disciplines and serve as an effective member of cross-functional project teams by providing guidance on EHS&S matters in design, risk assessment and incident investigation.
Main responsibilities:
- To assist in the delivery of Environmental and Sustainability targets by working with the company global sustainability committee and other strategic partners.
- Establish and maintain environmental reports such as the annual Greenhouse Gas and Carbon footprint report.
- Establish and maintain global initiatives to assist our Client in reducing our carbon footprint.
- Respond to client RFP questionnaires on the topic of environmental compliance and sustainability.
- Accurate and timely reporting of all environment, sustainability and other performance data.
- Demonstrate compliance with environmental regulations and corporate carbon reporting (e.g UK ESOS, SERC, etc.)
- Oversee the monitoring of performance and achievement against targets and benchmarks on a rolling basis.
- Provide reports/updates as required to the Executive leadership team.
- Take responsibility for achievement of technical best practice with regard to data collection, data analysis, water, waste and energy reduction, building services optimization and innovation.
- Support Facilities, Real Estate, Design and Construction and Security projects as required.
- Maintaining H&S procedures and assessments to comply with Health and Safety legislation.
- Investigating accidents and near misses and implementing proactive programs to reduce injuries and illnesses.
- Preparing, planning and delivering H&S training.
- Conducting site H&S inspections and audits and preparing follow up reports.
- Actively supporting the Director of EH&S in the promotion and delivery of the Health and Safety Management system globally.
- Ensuring appropriate communication to maintain staff awareness on H&S and reinforcing a positive culture.
- Assisting Security and Business Continuity Management (BCM) teams to respond to emergencies by providing specialist advice and assistance on all aspects of H&S.
- Ensuring H&S performance is measured, monitored and communicated to senior management to drive continual improvement in performance.
- Any other EHS&S duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Be experienced in a corporate environment, with a proven track record and at least 5 years’ experience.
- Be capable of understanding, analyzing and leading complex projects and will have a proven track record of problem solving and delivery of sustainable solutions and benefit.
- Be a fluent English speaker, a strong communicator and able to build trust and generate close working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Have knowledge of H&S acquired through education, training and experience.
- Have good computer literacy and Microsoft office skills.
- Be able to work using own initiative and eager to work in an international environment.
- Be able to travel to other company locations as required - 5-6 times per year
Formal requirements:
- Qualification of sustainability or environmental specialist in engineering and/or sustainability disciplines (BS/BEng) or other related disciplines.
- Qualification of health and safety technician.
