UZ Leuven, KU Leuven and IMEC wish to collaborate closely on research projects that will enhance the value portfolio within UZ Leuven, promote interaction between businesses and academia and help to expand implementation-oriented knowledge for the future. The result should be a closer match between research and economic needs and the transfer of knowledge to businesses.
In this context, UZ Leuven is working alongside IMEC to prepare an application for an IOF funded post.
The IOF (Industrial Research Fund) aims to finance innovative, industrially oriented research with the key objectives being a multidisciplinary and generic approach, extending its valorisation portfolio and responding to industrial demand, with a national and international focus.
IOF fellowships are permanent postdoctoral positions which are intended to promote the economic valorisation of research results.
Your tasks:
You will draft a strategic plan for the application for an IOF fellowship;
You will develop initiatives and prepare research applications that contain a clear plan for economic knowledge exploitation integrating both research-related and implementation-oriented aims;
You will develop possible research projects that will reinforce the exploitation of knowledge and IP from UZ Leuven within the IMEC - UZ Leuven consortium
You will have the ability to communicate both scientific quality and the intended research results.
You will develop a constructive, collaborative relationship with IMEC and will take responsibility for testing and discussing the joint objectives.
If an IOF economic knowledge exploitation programme is approved by the IOF Council, you may apply for continuation into this post.
Your profile:
You have a Ph.D in Biomedical Technology or in Biomedical Science; Masters-level training in Applied Economics and/or Business is a strong advantage.
You have at least five years' postdoctoral experience in implementation-oriented scientific research or strategic fundamental research or in an industrial entrepreneurial environment.
You know how to translate opportunities for economic knowledge exploitation into a relevant exploitation strategy.
You have relevant expertise in the areas of project management and management reporting.
You are a networker who is capable of enhancing the image of UZ Leuven as a partner in economic knowledge exploitation, and you know how to create visibility.
You have strong mediation and negotiation skills and communicate well in both Dutch and English;
You have a strong entrepreneurial attitude combined with excellent basic scientific knowledge;
An exciting challenge, focused on continuous innovation and development within a multidisciplinary context involving interaction between UZ Leuven and businesses;
A competitive salary with fringe benefits;
Full-time employment for 1 year.
