Job summary:
This is a global role which has responsibility for Client’s public facing networks across the whole organisation. The role reports into our global IT organisation GIS. The role covers the design, implementation and operational support of our digital network components, including naming services (DNS), content distribution (CDN), application connectivity including 3rd party applications, web application firewalls (WAF) and other security protection mechanisms such as robot management. The role will also include the technical (but not commercial) management of suppliers for the above services and components.

Job summary:

Responsibilities:
- Overall ownership of the Client’s global digital network
- Ensuring that the implementation and operation of all digital network components is aligned to the overall IT strategy, enterprise and security architectures.
- Implementing and operating all GIS managed digital network components, including: DNS, Advanced DNS and DNS security components, provision of SSL certificates for network based services, Content Distribution Network (CDN), network based Web Application Firewalls (WAF), network based bot protection
- Ensuring that the digital network delivers against availability, performance, security and data privacy, cost and are managed in line with processes and standards
- Ensuring implementation decisions are based on understanding of the needs of all users to avoid current and future issues such as naming or resource conflicts.
- Coordinating and prioritising business requirements across multiple stakeholders to ensure optimum use of resources and appropriate management of risk
- Providing support, mentoring and training to the digital network’s owners within each of the product teams in the event of a security incident, working closely with the IGRM team to manage the incident and follow-up
- Providing feedback and contribution to the architecture, security and service management teams to ensure continuous service improvement
- Indirect management of team personnel
- Co-working with the relevant budget owners within GIS
- Occasional travel to or within the UK and unsocial/evening hours
Requirements:
- Excellent understanding, and hand-on experience of the core components of digital networks, including DNS (advanced DNS and DNS security), CDN, WAF (Cloud/Edge based)
- Experience of working with Akamai CDN solutions or Akamai WAF (Kona) or similar solution
- SOC integration and SIEM
- Network monitoring and security management
- Direct technical supplier management experience with large-scale global suppliers
- Language skills: English min C1
