Development Operations (DevOps) Engineer

The Global Valuation Group (GVG) is a group within Global Finance infrastructure with representation in London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong and Dubai. GVG is a specialist team dedicated to independent review of Front Office and Risk models, which provides support of Product Control and Market Risk Management with software for calculation of fair value adjustment methodologies and quantitative tools and resources.
Our new small and dynamic GVG DevOps team is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer or Software developer keen to jump to the next level. You'll be working in an agile release cycle, ensuring our products are delivered as planned and on time. Our DevOps team is the bridge between multi-site development and support teams, keeping systems running with minimum impact to business users on a global scale.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to strategic vision for building up the team’s development, and release infrastructure aiming to minimise release issues
- Ensure our procedures are compliant with the internal and external rules, policies and regulations
- Encourage good development practice to improve application stability and supportability
- Involvement in multiple projects across different technologies, often simultaneously
- Work closely with internal and external teams such as development, production support, and infrastructure in multiple sites and actively engage with other team members for both releases and BAU.
- Work under pressure in a multi-site development environment with aggressive delivery timelines
- Investigate production issues as well as longer term strategic development issues
- Manage operational risk for the development team by maintaining good discipline in coding and team working practice.
Requirements:
- Continuous building, integration and delivery using TeamCity and SVN.
- RTC or Jira or similar bug/task tracking tools.
- Database experience with SQL Server.
- Good scripting skills with PowerShell and bash.
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms.
- Installation, configuration and hands-on system administration skills for both Windows and Linux.
- Good communication skills especially when describing problems and explaining solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to be able to solve tricky technical problems.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise work effectively to deal with a changing and varied work environment.
