Maersk Drilling supports global oil and gas production by providing high-efficiency drilling services to oil companies around the world.
Maersk Drilling Poland is a consolidation and centralisation of administrative support functions for our global rig fleet. From the office in Gdansk, we support the various offices around the world that run the rigs.
The Chief Accountant will be focusing on compliance and financial overviews as well as business partnering with the local functions. Your job will be mainly relating to statutory compliance and administration of the local Polish company.
Responsibilities:
In addition to the local Polish compliance requirements, we also foresee the role to handle several dormant entities around the world. The dormant entities are Maersk Drilling registered entities that have been kept open for potential future use/contracts or entities that we are working on closing down and eventually deregistering. This task requires an interest and talent for understanding compliance in other jurisdictions. The responsibilities are mainly related to yearly tax returns or indirect tax forms and preparing (together with a local auditor) local statutory accounts.

Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the implementation and up-keeping of accounting and reporting principles in line with Maersk Drilling internal guidelines and local accounting rules in bookkeeping and reporting purposes
- Acting as a focal point both internally and externally for any other business and finance-related matters
- Quality assurance through an overseeing role with regards to the deliverables from other colleagues in the Maersk Drilling Poland team in Gdansk
- Implementation and management of proper salary administration and payroll function in general (incl. system administration)
- Responsible for segregation of duties and fraud prevention and fraud awareness within the locally executed tasks
- Various ad-hoc tasks as required and requested, such as audit participation e.g. tax and year end, project assistance, etc.

What you'll need to succeed
- Higher education degree
- Strong local compliance knowledge specifically for Poland
- 5+ years + of business and Management experience (beneficial if obtained with an international company, i.e. experienced with international reporting)
- Certified Accountant
- Quick learning skills and a flexible and adaptable personality
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills
