Our client is a professional Agriculture organization, based in Zuid-Holland Netherlands.
Our client is a leader in the specific market sector it is active in. With plans to double their turnover and increase presence in the market, our client is proven to be very ambitious which offers candidates exciting opportunities to further in their career. Currently they are looking for an able person to lead a breeding team.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The candidate must be very able to - together with several departments within the company - set up a strategy and execute this. To this end, the R&D manager will collaborate with the finance department, marketing and sales and product teams. It is the managers' responsibility to consequently develop this strategy into certain steps to be taken by his/her team, make improvements on current processes and the ability to evaluate executed plans/projects.
Budget management is an integral part of the role so the ability to combine the R&D tasks with strategizing and management of several projects is importance.
After having gotten all activities under control it is possible that the manager will obtain further responsibilities for other breeding programs of the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with the breeders in your team to modernize the way in which the breeding activities are being carrier out currently;
- Being part of the product team and collaborating with the marketing, sales and finance departments to create new strategies and budgets;
- Maintaining budgets and evaluating processes;
- Leading a team of breeders and associate breeders.
REQUIREMENTS
- PhD in plant genetics/breeding or a related field;
- (proven) leadership skills and experience as a breeder;
- Knowledge of the newest marker technologies and other relevant advanced breeding methods;
- Speak the English language and preferably also Dutch;
- Availability to travel.
